The newest Toyotas still utilize upper and lower control arms. Toyota replaced the torsion bars used on the previous generation trucks with coil-over struts. Ride quality improved substantially, but for many the ride is too spongy for off-road use. Superlift's lift method utilizes a machined aluminum pre-load ring that mounts in between the coil and the shock. The pre-load ring increases ride height while eliminating the spongy ride characteristics to make a simple, economical lift system.
