This Kit uses 2 1/2 inch BLOCKS and ADD-A-LEAFS to raise the rear. This family of Fords uses a two-piece front axle, coil springs, and radius arms. Ford calls this version of IFS their Twin Traction Beam (TTB) suspension. As front ride height is raised, the tops of the tires lean outward creating positive camber angle. With lifts over 2 inches, caster angle must also be addressed. Correction is handled by lowering the stock radius arms. For taller lifts, new axle-to-crossmember lowering brackets restore camber. It may be necessary to replace the stock eccentric camber bushings to precisely dial-in camber angle.
Our dropped pitman arm reduces some of the additional tie rod angle created by the lift. Even in stock form, the Ford twin traction beam suspension steering seems somewhat vague. On off-camber or less than ideal driving surfaces, it takes continuous corrective steering input to keep the vehicle pointed straight. When the vehicle is raised, these inherent tendencies are magnified. On most twin traction beam Fords, the pitman arm alone will result in satisfactory steering.
Upgrade to the Superunner system (K389 kit) with extended radius arms and receive steering results that are literally as good as they get.
