This mid-size suspension is basically a downsized version of the full size: upper and lower control arms with torsion bars. This system fits most models and does not require replacement torsion bars. We have found that factory bars, both regular and heavy-duty, will handle basically all off-road situations and yield a superior ride compared to most heavier rated aftermarket bars. Remember that heavier bars will not necessarily lift a vehicle more, but they will firm-up ride quality.

Front lift is achieved with new torsion bar adjuster arms on standard S10s. The adjuster arms attach to the rear end of the torsion bars. They are what load the bars and determine vehicle ride height. The arm-to-bar mating keys on the Superlift adjusters are indexed differently to rotate the bars more and bring ride height up. Ride quality does not suffer since the factory torsion bars are retained. If a heavier torsion bar rate is desired, we do offer a system for use with aftermarket bars (for more information refer to installation note #5 in the Application Guide).

As with the full-size 2.5 inch lift, unless the factory upper control arms are replaced they will continuously "top out" creating a harsh ride and accelerated ball joint wear. Superlift replacement upper control arms cure the suspension travel and component wear problems, and make realignment possible. Constructed of .219 in. wall thickness, DOM tubing and .25 in. steel plate, the arms have proven to be almost indestructible.

Remember that lift depends on torsion bar adjustment. How much lift you attain depends on the starting ride height. For example, if the vehicle has already been raised 1 inch or so via adjusted-up bars or aftermarket bars, expect a maximum of 1 inch of additional lift.
